Christmas projects?

With that title, you would think that I have a bunch of ideas for woodworking gifts. I've been stumbling around the shop this weekend trying to come up with something. So let me know what you are making. Send me pictures of your gift projects so we can all steal them!

  1. That tree is a privet. It's a very aggressive growing tree and incredibly messy. It's going to take over that corner of your yard. Expect it to get to 30-50 ft in a couple of years.

  2. Yikes! I just Wikipedia'd it. Wonder where it came from?

  3. In Nor-cal areas it moves like a weed. It's not native to California so it's just taking over. Some time in the last 100 years someone planted one or two to make a privacy hedge and now they're everywhere.

My neighbor has one that is at least 40 feet tall and has about 4 that sprouted in the last 2 years. There great if you want lost of green and want to block out your neighbors.

  5. This isn't a Christmas idea but it looks like you need a roll around TV stand.

  6. Steve,
What about an advent calendar that has sliding doors instead of swinging doors. Then you can just make small rectangular pieces for doors and slide them aside in an annular space between the front and back boards. Just an idea.

  7. Lots of friends, relatives and neighbors are gong to get gifts from my wood shop this year.

I've had the most fun lately with wine-stoppers... http://www.plusaf.com/woodshop/05-stoppers/05-stoppers.htm

In your part of the country, that should be a popular gift! I lived in Silicon Valley from '78 to '05, and wine was one of the highlights of the experience!

Happy Holidays, and happy 66th birthday to ME today!

    Love your videos!

  8. Hi Steve, I agree wholeheartedly with you about Breaking Bad, here in the UK I'm only up to the beginning of season 3. Love it.

  9. The plant doesn't look like any privet I've ever seen but you are on the other side of the world and you do call things strange names. I thought it looked like elderberry, look here:
